Parked outside my office window. Rattle can camo paint, for stealth, but these tires won’t do well in the woods

Im bummed my state did away with safety inspections. It’ s a tiny bit cheaper now to register my car but I have to wonder about everyone around me now in anything older than 2010

Every so often I get pissed about blowing $60 and an hour per car every 6 months on safety inspections. Then I remember just how little Joe Average knows about all the metal and rubber bits that keep his car from randomly flying across the road.

wait you have to get your car inspected twice every year?

Those tires still have another 5k miles or so on them. Gotta get that money’s worth so you can spend more on ca mo face paint, ca mo license plate holder, ca mo cargo shorts, and cam o briefs for those discreetly secks -see nights with your ca m o night-vision binoculars.

Depends on the age of the car. 2000 and earlier it’s 6 months. Newer cars it’s no inspection till it’s 3 years old, then annual.

Come to WI, those are just starting to get sketchy as winter tires for most asshats around here, they’ll run them at least 2 more summers like that.

I am not surprised. This is becoming the new norm.

It’s a quandry, because new tires probably cost more than the book value of the vehicle. Then again, so did the spray paint and that didn’t stop them.

Cops: That guy has bald tires...should we chase him? I mean, that’s a pretty objective safety concern for everyone around. There could be kids on board. We really need to...

I always felt like UT inspections didn’t catch some pretty scary stuff. When I used to live downtown there were some atrocities and tires with cord showing was pretty normal.

What is that in freedom dollars? Also twice a year sounds horrible I have 6 cars so that would be twelve inspections a year. Even at the old Utah under $20 that would be crazy

I had an uncle that insisted his cars needed the same bolt pattern so at inspection time he could swap the best set onto whatever car he was taking in.

To be fair, how many accidents are caused by mechanical failure vs. driver error, yet we still let people drive...

cracked windshields and turn signals are one thing, ball joints, brakes and tires are another and they significantly increase the risk of bad humans crashing. like, if my chances of hitting a home run are 1 in 100 00, if I use a wiffle bat they drop precipitously.

Freedom dollars - they’re the Canadian ones, right?
It’s about 40 US. 6 months is only for older cars: 2000 or earlier. PITA, but not unreasonable - a brake pad or tire can go from OK to Oh Fuck in that time, no problem.
